Introduction
Less than full-time training or Flexible training is available to trainees for whom full-time training is not practical for “well-founded individual reasons”. As funding for this training is restricted, applications for flexible training are prioritised depending on the reason.
Flexible training usually involves working 3/5 of the basic working week and 1/2 the on-call duties of the full-time equivalent. It is preferable to job or slot-share with another trainee as opposed to being supernumerary. The RCOG link below give details of expected weekly rota commitments to ensure adequate training.
If you are considering flexible training it is advisable to contact the training programme director for your level of training so that plans can be made well in advance.
