Obstetric and Gynaecology trainees in the Severn Region rotate around the following hospitals:
St. Michael’s (Bristol)
Southmead (Bristol)
Gloucestershire Royal (Gloucester)
Cheltenham General (Cheltenham)
Royal United (Bath)
The Great Western (Swindon)
Musgrove Park (Taunton)
ST1 and ST2 trainees are placed at St. Michael’s, Southmead and The Great Western Hospital. ST3-7 trainees are placed throughout the region, allocation of placements take into account educational requirements.
All trainees attend locally arranged training days, which are held monthly across both the Severn and Peninsular regions. Five of these days are known as ‘Logbook’ days and cover modules of the new RCOG Logbook. The other days are known as ‘SWOT’ days and cover more generalised topics of interest.
Enthusiastic and dedicated college tutors support trainees in the Severn region. The trainees committee has a long history of full involvement in training issues and Severn region trainees continue to play a prominent role in national Obstetric and Gynaecological training issues. Annual Minimum Expectation of Training ST1 to ST7 in O&G Severn Deanery In 2009 the Annual Minimum Expectations of Training was introduced to guide both trainees & trainers through each year of training & to prepare for their ARCP at the end of the year. This is a dynamic document which will be updated following each round of ARCP & School Board meetings to ensure the level of expectation for the Severn Trainees is realistic & achievable. Following the 2010 ARCP the number of expected SWOT day attendance was reduced to 50% to account for the increased number of training days provided. This document is available to download as well as being available on the relevant trainees pages. Annual Minimum Expectations of Training ST1-ST7 in O and G Severn Deanery
