About the Trust The Trust was launched on 1 April 2002 & brought from it's predecessors a strong track record of achievement. It became a second wave Foundation Trust in July 2004 and is committed to continuous improvement, with emphasis on quality of care. The Trust employs 7,000 staff & has two main operational sites Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Cheltenham General Hospital. Both hospitals accommodate a comprehensive range of DGH specialities with up to 622 beds available for in-patients at Gloucester and up to 455 beds available for inpatients in Cheltenham. Cheltenham has a second site at Delancey Hospital, which provides 86 beds for Medical Assessment and Rehabilitation. The new Maternity Unit is a purpose designed unit of 43 Obstetric beds, 7 Delivery Rooms with operating theatre and associated rooms. The Special Care Baby Unit is incorporated into this building and has 12 special care cots, one of which is currently designated as a Neo-natal Intensive Care Cot. Gynaecology Out Patient Clinics are held each week in the Out Patient Department at Cheltenham General Hospital. These include general Gynaecology, Subfertility, Continence and Oncology. Colposcopy Clinics are held weekly at Cheltenham General Hospital, as well as Out Patient Hysteroscopy. A joint Gynaecology/Dermatology clinic is held monthly. Day case Operative Gynaecology is carried out in the Day Unit at Cheltenham General Hospital. In-patient Gynaecology is based in Avening Ward. This ward consists of 14 beds, three of which are single rooms. This ward shares facilities with female Urology patients.
