The Royal United Hospital is a busy district general hospital serving a population of 420 000 with an annual birth rate of approximately 5000. The post is funded jointly by the Bath Academy and the Royal United Hospital and is of one year’s duration available from August 2010. The successful candidate will work clinically for half of the week and have teaching duties and the opportunity to undertake private study in the field of medical education for the remainder of the week. They will participate in a partial shift system to cover out of hours work alongside seven other trainees in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and will have similar opportunities for training and educational supervision as these trainees. The appointee will be expected to undertake a post-graduate teaching qualification with the University of Bristol (the TLHP Certificate in Medical Education) which will be funded. Time will be made available to attend all the required course days for this and for appropriate private study to complete the modules.
