Applications are invited for the above post based at the 3 Counties Cancer Centre Cheltenham. The 3 Counties Cancer Centre based at Cheltenham General Hospital provides integrated gynaecological cancer care for Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, South and Mid Worcestershire.

Academic (Education) Specialty Registrar

Applications are invited for the post of Academic Education Trainee at St Michaels Hospital, Bristol.  This post is a joint initiative between the Severn Deanery, University Hospitals, Bristol and the University of Bristol.  It is an exciting opportunity for a trainee who is interested in medical education. It has been designed to permit the postholder to continue with development of clinical skills and progress towards CCT while developing skills in the field of teaching and learning, directly in undergraduate education, but applicable and transferable to other fields.  The postholder will be based in the Directorate of Women and Children’s Health at University Hospital Bristol. 

The postholder will work closely with academic staff involved in RHCN (Reproductive Health and Care of the Newborn) to develop and deliver the undergraduate curriculum.

There will be the opportunity to undertake educational training, such as a certificate diploma or MSc through the University of Bristol THLP course (www.medici.bris.ac.uk/tlhp).

Training Programme Director-Community Sexual and Reproductive Health

ROYAL UNITED HOSPITAL BATH NHS TRUST

CLINICAL TEACHING FELLOW (ST4 LEVEL OR ABOVE) IN

OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY

Applications are invited for a clinical teaching fellow (ST4 level or above) post in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.  The Royal United Hospital is a busy district general hospital serving a population of 420 000 with an annual birth rate of approximately 5000.  The post is funded jointly by the Bath Academy and the Royal United Hospital and is of one year’s duration available from August 2010.

 

The successful candidate will work clinically for half of the week and have teaching duties and the opportunity to undertake private study in the field of medical education for the remainder of the week.  They will participate in a partial shift system to cover out of hours work alongside seven other trainees in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and will have similar opportunities for training and educational supervision as these trainees. 

 

The appointee will be expected to undertake a post-graduate teaching qualification with the University of Bristol (the TLHP Certificate in Medical Education) which will be funded. 

 

Time will be made available to attend all the required course days for this and for appropriate private study to complete the modules.

CLINICAL TEACHING FELLOW AT SOUTHMEAD HOSPITAL

This post offers an excellent opportunity for trainees to develop their practical & theoretical teaching skills.  The THLP certificate course is funded for the Fellow Post by the Academy.  As well as teaching time the post allows for two daytime clinical sessions and has an on-call commitment on the registrar rota at Southmead.
